Colorado Lottery
Founded in January 1989, the Colorado Lotto draw originally used a 6/42 structure. This has now change along with the name to Colorado Lotto+ and a 6/40 structure. Due to the lottery’s rapid success and popularity, in July 1990 the decision was taken to add a Wednesday draw to accompany the Saturday draw.
This state lottery offers attractive winning odds and an easy format that’s successfully created thousands of both jackpot and secondary prize winners since it began. To play, you need to choose 6 numbers from a range of 1 – 40.
The Colorado Lotto’s incredible winning odds are among the highest of the US state lotteries. The biggest jackpot winner to date was also the lottery’s 100th millionaire when the Colorado native walked away with $27 million in March 1992.
You need to match at least 3 of the 6 numbers drawn to win secondary prizes. All the jackpots over $5,000 are taxed at 28% (24% federal plus 4% state) and payouts are either done as a single lump sum or annual installments.
As of September 25th Lotto+ will have an added bonus of an extra draw directly after the main one.
