A $60 Million Lotto Max Winner Has Finally Come Forward
A little under a year after winning the jackpot, the $60 million Lotto Max winner has finally come forward to claim his prize.
Bon Truong was lucky enough to buy the only winning ticket for the October 26, 2018 draw. Bon says he checked the ticket after the draw and has kept his windfall quiet since then. Bon went to the store and asked that the clerk print off the winning numbers, just to double-check. He headed home with the printout and stared at the numbers alongside his ticket for hours. He couldn’t believe his luck!
Bon has said that he quickly realized what the win would mean for his loved ones and wanted to ensure they were ready for big changes.
After buying the main things, and paying off bills, Bon says he’d like to take his family on a vacation. While he hasn’t yet decided on a particular destination, he says they may just try to go everywhere they can. He also plans on keeping his landscaping job and will continue to play the lottery.
Bon told the press that he is still strong and young, but he will take some time off to look after his family before returning to work.
Winning numbers
The winning numbers for that October draw were 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 20, and 30. The bonus number was 45.
Bon moved from Vietnam to Canada thirty years ago and says he’s played the same lottery numbers ever since. He has three young children and promises to try and keep his new fortune a secret from them, so they learn to work hard. He has said he has earmarked some of his winnings for a new home, bills, and saving for his family’s future.
Bon purchased the winning ticket at Pure Casino Yellowhead. The ticket is tied to the biggest ever Lotto Max win in the history of Edmonton. According to the rules, lottery winners have 12 months from the date of the draw to claim their prize.
